As we develop our Individual Protective System (IPS), we should start to realize that a firearm is only one part of a comprehensive system. Having multiple options for encounters becomes vastly important, so that we have ways and tools to employ for a variety of situations that we may encounter. If you chose to not carry a firearm or have not yet made that leap, Oleoresin Capsicum is an effective Less than Lethal option that is easy to carry, legally accessible, and an effective layer of protection that can be added into our IPS. This class will inform you what exactly “Pepper Spray” is, what to look for in a purchase, and how to employ it effectively and legally. As in all our coursework we will integrate this training with our Protective Mindset, development of a Spectrum of Awareness, while trying to recognize pre-assault indicators to create the opportunity to disengage before an incident even begins. If an incident is unavoidable and imminent, we will show you how to utilize verbal statements to deescalate and act if necessary. Proper usage and employment will be taught with practical exercises using Inert OC Spray.

This class will help students round out a previously developed system or start you down the path of developing your unique Individual Protective System (ISP) if you are just starting out.
